You might be wondering how I can lose and win a trade all within three seconds, right? Well, suffice it to say that the movement was so "whippy" that I got in one direction, got stopped out, and got in the other direction and won - all in three seconds. Overall I ended up losing 0.5 points today - or 5% of the $3000 I was trading.
It's not a slight thing when we talk about the philosophy of trading. Let's say you have a losing trade - (and, by the way, I'm mostly writing this for myself. I am preaching to myself, basically. Feel free to tune in or tune out). Anyway, you have a losing trade. The next time you sit down to trade, you have another losing trade. What happens to your mental state. Well, in my case, anxiety begins to build. You chalk it up to misnomers or some basic error. But, in fact, the anxiety still remains.
When I don't commit myself to the constant "brushing up" or study of trading provided by MMT, I find that I am on a bit of a slippery slope. The market is ever-changing. We were talking about this in an introduction to MMT meeting we held last night. The ongoing education provided by MMT is so vital. If I'm not watching the daily trade recaps, if I'm not attending class, if I'm not studying the basic lessons or reviewing the older classes - what is going to happen? I'm setting myself up to failure.
After my trade this morning, I went walking with my wife who is 8 months pregnant. Amazing that she is the one motivating me to get going (physically). She is a great woman. I'm sorry that none of you have a wife as amazaing as she is. :) She's out weeding the garden right now, by the way. Anyway... while we were walking and talking I came to the realization that I have been neglecting my studies. So I'm committing now to focus more on my studies and understand movement better. There are those of you who are winning much more consistently than I am lately. And, I believe that it has everything to do with confidence in my own abilities to execute a trade properly.
I need to get to the place where, going in to the trade, I am once again confident in the orders that I am placing. Where hindsight becomes more of a reality and I can see the movement happen before it actually does. And, believe it or not - it can happen. I've been there before. I'll be there again.
Of that I'm sure.
See you back here again!

Big Movement - No Trade for Me
I'm sure you're all really disappointed in me, right? This was a beautiful trade. I should have easily been able to take some profits. Instead, I felt like I couldn't read the indicators, so I stayed out.
This massive movement - about 11 points total - was the result of the WORST numbers on New Home Sales in months and months.
I plan to trade the FOMC Rate Announcement - but on paper - as this trade has elluded me in the past.
Good luck!

I'm Back Again...
As I mentioned before, I knew that June would be hairy scary. I have so many youth camps and other activities that I'm involved in, that I'm not able to trade every day.
Today I missed the 8:00 trade because of a website malfunction. Kinda like a wardrobe malfunction, I guess. The news server site that I use to get my news FAST shut down, so I had to restart it. By the time I got it back open and going, I had missed the initial trade.
That's okay though. There are plenty of trades in the coming days, and I should be around for most of them. Tomorrow is Fed Day - the day that the FOMC announces a change to the Federal Funds Rate. Or not. But, if they do, woweee!
See you back tomorrow.

A GREAT Way to Start The Day...
Everybody loves winning. I don't mean just trading, I mean ANYTHING. Win a stuffed toy from one of those dorky machines at K Mart and you think you're an ace. Win a free soda at your favorite burger joint and you feel like you skinned a fat one.
Well, winning in trading it that much more fun!
Today I made two trades. One that lasted for under a minute - and won $400 (before commissions). Then about 45 minutes later I made another trade. This one took about three or four minutes, and I won another $200 (before commissions).
Take a look:
This is good stuff, Maynard.
P.S. I have been extremely busy this month with Scout Camps, Young Women's Camps, High Adventure Camps, Missionary Camps, and I'm even going camping with my wife and kids later this month. My point - If I don't post here, it's not because I'm just not sharing. I'm not trading. I knew going in to June that I would not be able to trade much. So please don't get all worried that I've fallen off a cliff (well, I may have - JK). I'll be back and posting more regularly in the coming weeks.
I hope you all have a great day! I may come back on here and post some pics from my recent trip to Zions with the Young Men in my ward. It was awesome! We hiked the Subway and Angel's Landing. What a great trip!
See you later!

I'm Back!!!
Well, I'm sure most of you probably figured I died and went to heaven, right?
Not true.
I'm still here. I did go to heaven though. Well, sort of. Last week we had a few days of low impact trades, which I opted not to trade. Then I left Thursday for Zion National Park with some young men from my neighborhood for a High Adventure excursion.
We got up early Friday morning and hiked the popular "Subway" hike. It was a 10 mile hike, mainly upstream. At the end we swam some C-O-L-D pools and entered the "Waterfall Room". It was AWESOME.
Then Saturday we hiked "Angel's Landing". What a thrill. We picked our way all the way to the peak. It was an amazing sight.
So...
Yes, I am still here. Still loving my MMT life. The freedom that this style of trading gives me is unparalelled. It gives me the opportunity to be around my family more, and I am so grateful for that. I feel like my kids know who I am - and they're interested in me! Before, I was just "gone" all the time.
Today we had two trade opportunities. I got to my computer to find that my internet was down. This is so frustrating, but I just had to let the two trades slip by. Obviously my internet is up now - so I'm looking forward to some good trades tomorrow.
Until then!

WOW! 20 Point Drop!
What an amazing drop!!! 20 point drop on the S&P E-Mini! That's massive.
Unfortunately for me, the trade slipped past me and I didn't even get to trade it. Oh well, we'll live to see another day like today, I'm sure.
Everyone have a great weekend.

Trade Off Today
I lost two trades today, but was only trading one contract. Today is the LIVE Trade Off in Salt Lake City. I'm currently sitting in a room with probably about 100 people, trading live.
As most of you know, this flies in the face of some of my personal rules - never trade live in front of anyone, and never trade if you're not ready. I was racing around trying to get set up and getting other things in place, and wasn't concentrating on the trades like I should have been.
Regardless, these two trades are over, and the next isn't for an hour plus - which I may not trade.
I'm looking forward to a fun day together with a ton of MMT Traders.
Wish you were here! :)

Muted Movement
Unfortunately this trade did not go the way I expected it to. I ended up getting stopped out at a 1.75 point loss.
Oh well. Looking forward to more trades tomorrow at the Trade Off - Market Mover Trading's "Bright Futures" Success Summit in Salt Lake City.
See you then!

Today's One Point
This trade had a lot more than one point in it. But I was happy to get one point - 10% on my money - and be done.
One point a day over five days equals 50% return on your money! You can't beat that ANYWHERE.
Have a great day.
